ECOLOGICAL SPIRITUALITY
II:
New Consciousness
Duration:
8 nights, beginning Thursday 14th January 2009
(8pm – 9.30 pm)
Description
Do you experience a
desire for greater unity and participation,
for authentic democracy, for an active voice
in deciding your future?
We are vaguely becoming aware of the kind of world we want for our
children, and the kind that we do not want.
A new consciousness is dawning. There
is a re-awakening to our real power, a
naming and letting go of images of God that
are no longer life-giving.
In this follow up module to ‘Ecological Spirituality’ titled ‘New
Consciousness’ participants will continue
the journey into understanding the factors
that have led to the growing disconnect of
the human from the natural world. They
will reflect on the fourfold wisdom outlined
by Thomas Berry that is available to guide
us into a new period of creativity (Ecozoic
Era) participated in by the entire Earth
community. Working with the concepts
of morphogenetic energy fields, Kosmic
Consciousness and the Universal Human we will consider
how each choice shapes and affects the
quality of life of all. As we continue
to listen to the universe telling her story
we will consider how Jesus leads the way
into a new exploration into the Divine,
requiring our co-creative participation, in
the Kingdom of God – the New Consciousness,
that 2,000 year later that we are still
trying to catch up with.

ECOLOGICAL SPIRITUALITY
I:
Finding Our Home in Earth
Duration
8 nights, beginning October 2010
Description
Do you question like St. Paul, why you do
not understand your own actions, not doing
what you want to do, but instead doing the
very thing you hate? (Rom 7:15)
We live out a story of origin which implies
that the gifts of creation are there for the
use and benefit of humanity, which has
frequently been employed in the past to
exploit our natural resources.
This story gives a much distorted image of
God, of ourselves, & of our relationship to
the Earth, which is our home.
It has taken one tenth of one percent of
earth’s history for humanity to destroy its
ecological & spiritual home. Through our
loss of connection with our deepest selves
we have grown into a species simultaneously
dangerous & endangered. Hopelessness seems
to have become our everyday companion. This
suffering can either consume or transform
us. Will we choose death or life?
Cosmology is the emerging story of the
birth, development & destiny of the universe
& our place within it. Ecological
Spirituality is an approach to spirituality
that looks to our earth home to shape & form
our spirituality.
The aim of this introductory course is to
lead participants on a journey into the
story of the universe through lecture,
story, contemplation, music, poetry &
ritual, & to explore a spirituality that
embraces our human story & the story of the
earth as one story. As we listen to the
universe telling her story we will grow in
appreciation of how the integration of this
unfolding story into every aspect of our
lives is without doubt, the “great work” of
our time.
